Al Buell

Al Buell He was born in 1910 in Hiawatha, Kansas, and frequented some classes at the Chicago Art Institute which decided his future development as a self-taught artist.

In 1935 he associated the Stevens-Hall-Biondi art studio and met Haddon Sundblom who became a reference for his career. In 1940 he opened his own studio and began working for important calendar companies such as Gerlach-Barklow or Brown & Bigelow. He also worked for another highly reputed firms as Coca-Cola and for some prestigious magazines as Esquire.

By 1965 he finished his commercial career but remained active until 1993 when he was hurt in an accident. After that he retired to a nursing home and died there in 1996 at the age of 86.
